What is efraim diveroli?

Efraim Diveroli is an American former arms dealer, best known for his involvement in a controversial arms-dealing contract with the U.S. government. Born on December 20, 1985, Diveroli founded the arms company AEY Inc. at a young age. The company gained significant attention when it was awarded a $298 million contract by the U.S. Department of Defense in 2007 for supplying munitions to the Afghan National Army.

The controversy arose when it was discovered that AEY was repackaging and supplying aging and potentially defective ammunition from surplus stockpiles, primarily sourced from China, which violated the terms of the contract as well as U.S. law prohibiting the acquisition of Chinese-made munitions. This led to a federal investigation and subsequent charges.

In 2009, Diveroli pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and was sentenced to four years in federal prison. His story gained wider public attention and was dramatized in the 2016 film "War Dogs," where Diveroli was portrayed by actor Jonah Hill.

Since his release from prison, Diveroli has primarily stayed out of the public eye, although his story continues to be cited in discussions about defense contracting and government oversight.
